A flexible user interface and automated systems help a premier railroad company improve controls, processes and functionality.

 

One of America's leading transportation companies, whose railway routes cover nearly two dozen U.S. states, turned to ProKarma to replace a number of legacy solutions to improve controls and functionality. With $12 million in damage repairs subject to re-billing annually and a re-billing rate of 21 percent, improving the re-bill process was also a key concern for the company.

Over the course of eight months, ProKarma tapped into its extensive expertise in niche skill areas in SAP and used Agile processes and ASAP methodology to develop and test a completely automated, role-based solution that included a user-friendly UI application and a paperless workflow process. To solve the various business challenges faced by the railway, the ProKarma team utilized a variety of technologies, including SAP Netweaver Gateway to expose services, SAP ERP to run business transactions, SAP PI for integration and data exchange across systems and SAPUI5 for a rich, flexible user interface.

The partnership was a success: The end solution, which integrated with existing company systems ranging from ITOS and OASIS to CAS and ARMS, resulted in a dramatic reduction in overhead and in the time required to execute processes. The client also expected to realize savings in its annual spend on maintenance and repair and on damage repairs subject to re-billing.
